| POSITION SUMMARY | | The Brewer Technician 1 efficiently operates and monitors Sierra Nevada's state-of-the-art brewing systems to produce award winning beers. Reporting to the Brewing Supervisor, the Tech 1 follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensures our beers meet quality standards. The Brewer Technician 1 is responsible for developing a basic knowledge of brewing, cellaring and filtration operations to support or perform any of these skills as assigned. This position will require frequent interaction with various departments throughout the company as well as a high-level of teamwork, autonomy and attention to detail to produce beers of the finest quality. | | | | | | | |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES | | Essential Duties | • | Follow all SOPs and best practices to carry out production and cleaning processes, product movement, monitor instrumentation readings, detect problems and troubleshoot deviations in Brewing, Cellar, and Filtration areas in a safe and efficient manner. Gains Proficiency in the use of Brewmaxx (process automation system). | • | Use both manual and automated systems to monitor all processes from raw material addition to filtration to ensure quality standards and specifications are met through sampling and specified analysis as set by SNBC. | • | Perform CIP of brewing vessels, tanks, process lines, fermenters, centrifuges, filters and yeast brinks including assembly and disassembly of process lines and loops and vessel entry for manual brewhouse cleaning. Performs COP of miscellaneous brewing parts while mixing and handling chemicals safely in accordance with OSHA and SNBC standards | • | Proficient in utilizing inventory control software (Phoenix WMS and Switchboard) for material handling, data entry and lot tracking for FIFO and traceability programs, along with staging materials in accordance with inventory management practices and prepare for brewing according to set recipes and schedules. | • | Responsible for performance and reporting of product and equipment on shift. Based on limits outlined by SOP’s, reacts appropriately when limits are exceeded, and escalate abnormalities appropriately | • | Communicate and works in conjunction with other departments (Quality, Packaging, Maintenance, etc.) to meet department objectives | • | Maintain an organized, sanitary, and safe work area in accordance with 5S principles and GMP; performs routine 5S audits and maintains ownership of at least one 5S area. | • | Perform basic and routine maintenance and troubleshooting of process equipment & makes mechanical adjustments as needed; manually or with small hand tools; escalates maintenance issues using the work order system when repairs cannot be made immediately | • | Engages in continuous improvement initiatives to further company and department objectives in safety, quality and efficiency | • | Develop expert knowledge of Confined Space Rescue procedures and is responsible for rescuing team members in confined spaces. | • | Builds a working knowledge of plant utilities to understand the impacts these systems have on brewing operations. | | | |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | • | Comprehensive understanding of raw materials handling and Brewhouse operations, cellar management and filtration procedures | • | Competent with MS365 Office suite of programs in addition to a CMMS for creation and completion of Work Orders | • | Ability to accurately follow SOPs and policies as well as all department and site safety protocols | • | Understanding of COP, CIP, sanitation and sterilization techniques | • | Ability to participate in the company LOTOTO, Confined Space Entry and Confined Space Rescue programs. | • | Understanding of specific beer process terminologies as well as basic understanding of math, physics, chemistry, microbiology, mechanical and computer skills. | • | The skill to quickly assess the status of operations and troubleshoot processes strongly desired | • | A demonstrated ability to work with automated processes interface, as well as manual brewery operations is strongly desired | • | A demonstrated ability to maintain a strong attention to detail while managing multiple, simultaneous tasks is essential | • | A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and coordinate team tasks in a cross-functional, cross-departmental team environment | • | A demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and make critical decisions is desired | • | Strong work ethic and high level of professionalism | | | |
